Premier League Results Week 7: Sunday's 2016 EPL Scores, Top Scorers and Table

Tom SunderlandOct 2, 2016

Manchester City were handed their first defeat of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign on Sunday after slumping to a 2-0 away loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Sergio Aguero failed to add his goal tally as an Aleksandar Kolarov own goal set Spurs on their way to victory before Dele Alli doubled their lead before half-time to move the north Londoners within a point of leaders City.

Arsenal top scorer Alexis Sanchez also drew a blank at Turf Moor, but Laurent Koscielny was on hand to fire in a 93rd-minute winner for the Gunners as they beat Burnley 1-0.

Aguero Goal Rush Held At Bay

On his best day, Manchester City talisman Aguero can take on any defence in the world and win, but after going two games without a goal for the first time this season, the Argentinian hasn't looked his usual self.

The forward came up blank against Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday, but the official Fantasy Premier League Twitter account noted players are still placing their faith in his talents:

Aguero failed to find the net against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League last Wednesday, but with 11 goals in his previous eight outings across all competition, he still has reason to be upbeat, per Dream Team FC:

It's also an ominous coincidence for City manager Pep Guardiola that Aguero happens to have missed the mark in the two outings they've failed to capture the win, hinting the team struggles when their star striker does.

Guardiola isn't the kind of tactician to grow overly reliant on one player for his goals, but the striker and his manager face a fight to prove there's more to their squad.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Lost in Space

After starting out his Manchester United career looking like something out of this world, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has continued to look lost in space of late—but for entirely less encouraging reasons.

United were forced to settle for a share of the spoils as the Potters visited Old Trafford on Sunday, and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker noted it wasn't for a lack of talent in manager Jose Mourinho's attack:

Ibrahimovic got his Premier League career up and running with four goals in his first four outings, and many a fantasy Premier League manager will be feeling the effect of his recent decline:

The former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain ace has still shown huge promise in other aspects of his performance, but Mourinho will need his top striker back to his best if results are to follow in kind.

Ibrahimovic has now failed to score in each of his last four domestic fixtures, falling short against Watford, Northampton Town, Leicester City and now Stoke, with the Red Devils suffering as a result.
