Charles Wiley's Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed: Latest Comments, Reaction
The domestic violence charges against Ole Miss freshman defensive end Charles Wiley were dismissed, according to Antonio Morales of the Clarion-Ledger.
"The parties mutually agreed to dismiss the charges and (to) handle this matter privately," Wiley's lawyer, Steve Farese, told Morales.
Wiley, 18, was arrested in late July and charged with domestic violence. A 21-year-old woman, Legend Fultz, was also arrested and charged with domestic violence by the same officer at the same time in the incident.
Head coach Hugh Freeze had previously said that Wiley "will never step on the field” while his legal issues were ongoing, per Davis Potter of the Oxford Eagle. Defensive line coach Chris Kiffin did say the team was preparing him to play if needed on Tuesday, however, so Wiley should be available to contribute Saturday when Ole Miss hosts Georgia.
Wiley was considered a 4-star prospect by 247Sports.com and was ranked as the 20th-best weak-side defensive end in the country in the class of 2016.
