Osa Masina, Don Hill Suspended by USC: Latest Details and Reaction

Southern California linebacker Osa Masina and defensive end Don Hill have been suspended from the team as an investigation into an alleged sexual assault continues.

Per ESPN.com's Kyle Bonagura, USC head coach Clay Helton announced on Sept. 13 that Masina and Hill have been suspended from all football-related activities.

On Tuesday, Joey Kaufman of the Orange County Register reported both players have been removed from the football team's roster.

On Thursday, Bonagura reported Masina was charged with three felonies in Utah, noting the linebacker faces one count of first-degree rape and two counts of forcible sodomy. Bonagura added bail had been set for $250,000 and noted the linebacker is expected to surrender to authorities Thursday afternoon.

"Under the university's further guidance, it has been decided that they have been suspended from participation with our football team," Helton said.

Masina's attorney, Greg Skordas, noted Masina isn't allowed on campus without permission and an escort, per Zach Helfand of the Los Angeles Times.

Per Bonagura, prior to Tuesday's announcement by Helton, Masina and Hill had been allowed to take part in Trojans practices and attend team meetings even though neither played in the season's first two games against Alabama and Utah State.

TMZ Sports reported Sept. 1 that Masina and Hill were being investigated for allegedly drugging and raping a woman twice in July. The site added the arrest warrant stated the woman said the first incident took place at Hill's apartment July 15.

TMZ also noted the alleged second sexual assault involving Masina and the woman took place July 26 in Utah "after another day of boozing and marijuana use with Masina."

Helfand reported Masina was being investigated for the alleged sexual assault in Utah, and he had been served a search warrant on campus at USC.

Hill was also named in the search warrant, per Kaufman on Sept. 13, prompting his suspension.
