College Football Scores 2016: Key Players from Top 25 Teams' Week 2 Results
The second week of the college football season appeared to be blowout city.
The top teams in the nation were primarily engaged in battles with schools that seemed happy to be picking up a big check on the road and wouldn't mind getting punched in the mouth for their troubles.
That's not how it played out as Central Michigan pulled off a huge and controversial upset at No. 22 Oklahoma State, and tiny Nicholls nearly did the same in its visit to No. 9 Georgia .
Central Michigan got the ball and had an untimed down to make the game-winning play after Oklahoma State was penalized for intentional grounding as the clock ran out in the fourth quarter. The officials gave the ball to Central Michigan and allowed the Chippewas to have one final play.
Quarterback Cooper Rush lofted a Hail Mary pass that Jesse Kroll caught, and he lateraled the ball to Corey Willis who ran in from 12 yards out for the touchdown.
After the game, officials admitted that the game should have ended on Oklahoma State's final play, but the Central Michigan 30-27 win still stands.
The Bulldogs barely avoided an upset themselves. They held on for a 26-24 victory even though Nicholls scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to get within the final two-point margin. The Nicholls defense held Georgia running back Nick Chubb to 80 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries.

Stars of the Week
QB Wilton Speight, Michigan
The Michigan Wolverines have had no problems living up to the hype in the first two weeks of the season. A week after punishing Hawaii in the season opener, the Wolverines overpowered Central Florida by a 51-14 margin.
The Wolverines had the advantage over the Knights in nearly every area, and quarterback Wilton Speight led the way with a wonderful passing day. Speight, a 6'5", 243-pound junior, completed 25 of 37 passes for 312 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
Speight threw a pair of touchdowns to tight end Jake Butt, and he also threw two to wide receiver Amara Darboh. Butt caught seven passes for 86 yards, while Darboh made several big plays in catching five passes for 111 yards.
Speight will surely get tested more severely when Michigan moves into the Big Ten portion of its schedule, but he has looked like a capable leader through the first two weeks of the season.
RB Kevrin Justice, Houston
The Houston Cougars have served notice that they are going to be one of the top teams in the nation in the 2016 season.
The Cougars are ranked sixth in the nation, and they looked like it when they took on Lamar and registered a 42-0 victory.
Kevrin Justice was a huge weapon for Houston in the victory. He carried the ball 27 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and he was able to set the tone for the Cougars with his consistent production.
Houston had a mind-numbing 381-15 edge in rushing yards, and its powerful ground game should be a consistent asset throughout the season.
WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama
Top-ranked Alabama rolled to its second straight victory to start the season, downing a game Western Kentucky team by a 38-10 margin.
There's little doubt that Alabama will once again have the kind of defense to shut down big-time opponents. In the win over Western Kentucky, the Crimson Tide showed the kind of balance on offense that may once again make them formidable this season.
Calvin Ridley had an explosive game at the wide receiver position, catching nine passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Ridley, a 6'1", 188-pound sophomore from Coconut Creek, Florida, caught a four-yard TD pass on the final play of the first quarter.
That touchdown broke a 3-3 tie, and Alabama was never threatened after that.
