Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After recording a career-high six sacks and 33 total tackles during the 2014 season with the Chicago Bears, Paea moved to the nation's capital.
And while he was limited to just 19 total tackles and 1.5 sacks working in a rotational role as a defensive end, Paea acquitted himself nicely in the small sample size.
"Last season, Paea played just 221 snaps, seeing less than half the playing time in Washington than in Chicago, but he still earned positive grades against the run and pass, notching 15 total pressures in only 136 pass-rushing snaps," Pro Football Focus' Sam Monson wrote. "Paea may not have been a great fit in that defense, but his raw power has a role in the NFL."
With the Browns, Paea figures to serve as insurance along the defensive line for a team that's in desperate need of depth.
Not only did Desmond Bryant suffer a season-ending pectoral tear over the offseason, but Armonty Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the regular season after he violated the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Considering the Browns finished last season ranked 30th in average rushing yards allowed (128.4), Paea should be a welcome addition for a team that desperately needs stability up front.
