Alessio Romagnoli Booked for Trying to Stop Own Goal with Handball

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli managed a feat so bad it was almost impressive on Saturday, when the referee booked him for trying to prevent an own goal with his hand, only for Napoli to score anyway.

Milan were already trailing 3-2 to Napoli and down to nine men with little time remaining when the Italian defender—recently linked with a big-money move to Chelsea—accidentally diverted Lorenzo Insigne's pass toward his own net.

As ball and player closed in on the goal, Romagnoli reached out a hand and swiped it away before it crossed the line.

Jose Callejon tapped in his second goal, Napoli took a 4-2 lead that they would never relinquish and the referee produced a yellow card for "unsportsmanlike conduct" to add to the defender's woes.
