Valencia 2-4 Las Palmas
After a couple of goal-fests earlier in Week 1, La Liga's goal count soared once again on Monday evening's meeting at the Mestalla, which ended 4-2 in favour of Las Palmas.
Valencia midfielder Mina scored either side of Las Palmas' first-half three-goal volley, but it wasn't enough to prevent a disappointing defeat in their season opener.
Kristian Walsh of the Liverpool Echo highlighted just how prevalent goal-filled games have been during this first weekend of the new season, and fans can only hope the trend remains:
Livaja headed in his first to equalise before Viera put Las Palmas ahead from the spot, but Boateng's first goal for the club was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch despite Livaja's second in the 88th minute, via Sky Sports La Liga:
Las Palmas put a sterling run of form together at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and not only escaped relegation but managed to finish 11th after losing just four of their last 13 league games.
The early signs suggest they're looking to pick up where they left off in 2016-17, and a convincing win over such established top-flight opponents will undoubtedly provide a confidence boost moving forward.
Celta Vigo 0-1 Leganes

La Liga newcomers Leganes got their dream start to life in the top flight on Monday after a late strike from Victor Diaz saw the promoted party stun Celta Vigo at Balaidos.
Sky Sports pundit Terry Gibson noted the 2016-17 La Liga campaign has already shown a preference toward some of the "smaller" outfits following several upsets in the first week:
And by upsetting Celta in front of their own fans, Leganes also joined a very elite crew, per OptaJose:
La Liga's new boys held their hosts at bay for 75 minutes before making the vital incision, where a corner was nodded on by Darwin Machis, and right-back Diaz poked home from close range to net the breakthrough.
Leganes ended with a red card to their name after David Timor—who had already been substituted off—involved himself in a spat involving Celta's Iago Aspas, but three points were theirs nonetheless.
