College Football's Most Important Offers of the Week
One of the more impressive parts of Notre Dame’s 2017 class—which currently ranks No. 6 nationally—is the fact that the Irish hold commitments from prospects hailing from eight different states.
Eight of the 17 Irish pledges hail from talent-rich havens Florida and Texas.
However, Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly and his staff have yet to strike gold in California.
Last week, the Irish hit the West Coast to offer 3-star corner Elijah Hicks.

The 6’0”, 185-pounder from La Mirada High School in California adds the Irish to a lengthy list of suitors that includes Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon and Washington, among others.
As Tom Loy of 247Sports noted, a tender from the Irish is one that should grab Hicks' attention because of the school’s academic reputation.
Hicks, who rates as the nation’s No. 83 corner, racked up 47 tackles with 12 pass breakups and two interceptions as a junior.
According to Ruth Robbins of 247Sports, Washington is a program that is standing out to Hicks at this stage of his recruitment.
However, with the Irish officially in the mix, his process could shift if Kelly and his staff pursue him as a priority target moving forward.
Nebraska After Top CB
While the Irish have yet to land a California recruit in the 2017 cycle, one powerhouse program from the Midwest that has found success in the Golden State is Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers have two commits from California and are involved with a number of the state’s elite prospects such as 5-star receiver Joseph Lewis and 4-star receiver Tyjon Lindsey.
Last week, Huskers head coach Mike Riley and his staff offered another California standout in 4-star corner Thomas Graham.
The 5’11”, 175-pounder initially committed to USC before reopening his recruitment.
With Nebraska having momentum with a handful of California’s best players, things could heat up between them and Graham if they are able to secure a visit from him in the coming months.
Alabama Offers Top 2018 QB
In recent years, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has landed quarterbacks from areas of the country that are usually outside the Tide’s primary recruiting radius.
Passers from California, Hawaii and Utah have found their way onto the Tide’s commitment list over the last few years.
Last week, the Tide offered 5-star 2018 quarterback and current Washington commit Jacob Sirmon.
The 6’4”, 218-pounder rates as the nation’s No. 3 pro-style passer and the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
He’s been committed to the in-state Huskies since Dec. 2015, and he has not given any hints of wavering in his commitment. Still, the Tide’s offer is one that could at least give Sirmon something to think about if he decides to check out some of his other options in the future.
Elite 2019 DE Adds ACC, SEC Offers
Last week was a special one for 2019 defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux.
It began with the 6'5", 235-pounder from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles being rated as the nation's top overall prospect in the 2019 class.
Heading into his sophomore season, his offer list is at six, with USC, Utah and Washington State among the other programs that have already tendered him.
As Bleacher Report's Tyler Donohue noted, Thibodeaux is only scratching the surface of his immense potential.
As his game develops, expect the interest from colleges across the nation to rise significantly in the coming months.
