A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former Ohio State running back Bri'onte Dunn, who is charged with hitting and choking his girlfriend.

Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch reported Friday that prosecutors decided to charge Dunn with domestic violence and assault on an incident that was first reported in July.

Dunn's girlfriend called the police July 17 and accused him of "[hitting] me really bad." The Ohio State football team subsequently dismissed him.

Dunn graduated in May and was initially expected to compete for the starting running back job. Head coach Urban Meyer told reporters at Big Ten Media Days that there is "no chance" Dunn returns to the program.

The unnamed woman filed a civil protection order against Dunn last month. According to records obtained by Jim Woods of the Columbus Dispatch, the woman said Dunn "went crazy" before choking and beating her. She was allegedly bloodied and left with a black eye.

Dunn faces up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. He has not turned himself into police at this time or publicly responded to the allegations.
