Stidham Visits the Blue Side of Alabama

Wednesday, Aug. 3

Brandon Marcello of 247Sports reported Stidham visited Auburn on Wednesday and followed head coach Gus Malzahn throughout the team's first practice of preseason camp.

In his lone season at Baylor, Stidham was forced into action when Seth Russell went down with a neck injury that required surgery.

He appeared in 10 games, throwing for 1,265 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions, but it came to a sudden end when he broke his ankle in November, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Interim Baylor head coach Jim Grobe told ESPN 1660 in Waco, via Max Olson of ESPN.com, that Stidham left because he wanted to get more playing time.

Now, one of the 2015 class' most highly touted quarterbacks is back on the market. Per 247Sports' composite ratings, Stidham was the No. 2-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the nation, the seventh overall prospect in the state of Texas and the No. 38 player in the country.

Auburn hasn't made the call on who its starting quarterback will be in 2016, as Jeremy Johnson, John Franklin III and Sean White are competing for the job.

Johnson and White combined to lead Auburn to a mediocre 7-6 record last year and a win in the Birmingham Bowl.

Stidham would be a nice upgrade at the position, but he would have to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
