Tuesday Recap
Kolkata took a stranglehold of their game against Goa, but early goals didn't prevent a share of the spoils against the hosts on Tuesday.
Brazilian Vander Carioca scored a brace in the first half, and he nearly added a third to give the visitors a commanding lead, but a Goan fightback saw the game squared.
Faizan Thange almost wrapped up the points for Kolkata, but a counterpunch by Vampeta made it 2-1.
The 42-year-old doubled his tally for Goa, as Kolkata stand on the brink of qualification.
Premier Futsal shared footage of the home support who were in fine voice in Goa:
Giggs entered the fray for Mumbai in the second half of their contest with Chennai, as their opposition were without futsal superstar Falcao, who was left injured on the sideline as player-coach.
Adriano Foglia gave Chennai an early lead during the first quarter, but Mumbai struck back through French freestyler Sean Garnier after a fast-moving attack.
Chennai took the lead once again through a rocket from Romulo that broke the netting behind the sticks, but the game was hauled back to 2-2, as Mumbai scored a second through a sumptuous effort by Angellot.
Premier Futsal provided highlights of the action:
The goals kept coming, as Camilo made it 3-2 to Chennai, but the moment of the night was reserved for Giggs, as the United legend levelled the score once again.
Mumbai obtained the 4-3 advantage in the fourth quarter, as Foglia scored his second and his side's fourth, and the goal took Giggs and his team-mates past the winning post.
The Welsh wizard was once again composed and full of tricks for his team when he arrived from the bench, but the influence of Foglia was undeniable for Mumbai, as they made the knockout round.
The competition will certainly miss Ronaldinho after the former Barcelona player opted to return to Brazil, and his replacement, Cafu, doesn't bring the same allure as his countryman on a futsal court.
