Phil Jackson Advocates for NBA 4-Point Line, Longer Shot Clock
The Stephen Currys and Klay Thompsons of the world are making NBA three-pointers more commonplace. How long until the game evolves to include a four-point line?
Perhaps not long, if it was left up to Phil Jackson.
The New York Knicks president told Charley Rosen of Today's Fastbreak:
"Why not have a four-point line about 35 feet out? It wouldn't be long before players will get reasonably comfortable shooting from out there. And having a four-point line would certainly serve to enable teams to catch up in what are now blowout games.
"
Jackson said he believes the "pendulum will swing back" to the days when big men ruled the game, but until then, why not adapt?
Jackson also advocated for a six-second addition to the shot clock. He explained: "This would give offenses more time to get low-post players involved, make defenses work harder, and encourage more passing and player movement."
The Zen Master makes some decent points.
