Giggs was in electric form as he he led from the front for his new team in the five-a-side format. Paul Scholes watched his fellow member of Manchester United's famed Class of '92 from the sidelines as the Welshman proved he still has the skill to play.

Mumbai sped to a 2-0 lead after the second quarter, controlling the hosts with ease. Goals from Adriano Foglia and Angellot Caro gave the visitors the advantage, with league president Luis Figo in attendance.

Foglia doubled his goal contribution shortly after half-time, leaving Kevin Ramirez to wrap up the win, notching Mumbai's fourth strike.

Chennai threatened a dramatic comeback as Cirilo Filho and Falcao both found the net, but the result was never in doubt as Giggs appeared comfortable in possession.

There was disappointment for Ronaldinho and Goa as Argentina legend Crespo and his Kolkata team-mates swept to a 4-2 victory.

Goa had a 2-0 lead in the first quarter as Pula and Mohammed Islam grabbed the efforts. Rafael pulled a strike back for Goa, but Crespo extended his side's two-goal advantage.

Santos once again narrowed the advantage to 3-2, but an own goal by 'keeper Fredsan Marshall wrapped up the win.

Ronaldinho featured for most of the game, refusing to take an extended break on the bench, and his familiarity with the sport was evident, oozing Brazilian magic and class.

However, the performances of Giggs and Crespo were the highlights from India, as futsal master Falcao gave a cameo and a magnificent finish.

The Indian Premier Futsal League returns on Saturday with another double header, as Mumbai battle Kochi and Kolkata play Bangalore and their marquee signing Scholes.
