Jeremy Evans to Pacers: Latest Trade Details, Comments, Reaction

The Indiana Pacers continued their offseason makeover Wednesday by acquiring forward Jeremy Evans in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Pacers will also receive cash in the deal. ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon confirmed the move and labeled it as a salary dump on Dallas' part.

The 28-year-old Evans spent the first five years of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz before signing with the Mavs last offseason.

He played sparingly in 2015-16, averaging 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 30 games. He carries career averages of just 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds.

The former second-round pick out of Western Kentucky is set to make just over $1.2 million in 2016-17 before hitting unrestricted free agency, per Spotrac.com.

Dallas' decision to trade Evans and his remaining salary comes on the heels of reportedly acquiring center Andrew Bogut in a trade with the Golden State Warriors and agreeing to sign former Warriors forward Harrison Barnes to an offer sheet, according to MacMahon and Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

The Pacers have also been busy this offseason, as they acquired guard Jeff Teague and forward Thaddeus Young in separate trades, along with reportedly signing center Al Jefferson, per Stein.

Evans is unlikely to play a significant role for a deep and talented Indiana squad, but the 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion does provide some length and athleticism from the end of the bench, which makes him a worthwhile addition considering the cash sweetener.
