James Records 40 Points, 10 Assists in Finals Game for 2nd Time

Bleacher Report MilestonesJun 18, 2016

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James had 41 points and 11 assists in Thursday's 115-101 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, joining Jerry West as one of just two players in league history to record 40-plus points and 10-plus assists in multiple Finals games in his career, per ESPN Stats & Info

It was a night full of milestones for the 31-year-old superstar, who also became the first player since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000 to score 40-plus points in consecutive games within the same Finals, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).

James, of course, also had 41 points—with 16 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and three steals—in Monday's Game 5, which allowed his team to stave off elimination and head back to Cleveland for Game 6.

Having since extended the series with another 41-point effort, James will face the Warriors in Oakland on Sunday to determine the 2015-16 NBA champion.

Win or lose, he's been remarkable during the Finals, leading all players in points (181), rebounds (68, tied for first), assists (51), blocks (13) and steals (16), per ESPN Stats & Info.

Furthermore, Thursday's outing moved him into seventh place on the all-time NBA Finals scoring list, with his 1,052 points besting former Boston Celtics Tom Heinsohn (1,037) and John Havlicek (1,018), per NBA.com/Stats.

Already just the third team to tie a Finals at 3-3 after facing a 3-1 series deficit, the Cavaliers hope to become the first team (in 33 tries) to actually bounce back from a 3-1 Finals deficit to capture a championship, per ESPN Stats & Info.

James' other Finals performance with 40-plus points and 10-plus assists occurred last year (June 14) in a 104-91 Game 5 loss to the Warriors, per Basketball-Reference.com's play index.
