Youth and Experience Combine for El Tri

Mexico got off to an ideal start in the Copa America Centenario, securing an imposing win over their fiercest challengers for top spot in the group.
A draw appeared to be on the cards in Glendale, Arizona, after Uruguay's Diego Godin equalised 16 minutes from time following Alvaro Pereira’s fourth-minute own goal.
However, 37-year-old captain Rafael Marquez struck with five minutes to play before Hector Herrera netted a third in added time.
Fox Soccer's social account replayed the footage of Marquez's 85th-minute goal:
Pachuca winger Hirving Lozano, a fleet-footed 20-year-old, was one of the star performers in action as he terrorised the Uruguay back line following his 55th-minute introduction.
The exciting talent is reportedly being tracked by Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, with the Mexican club's vice-president, Andres Fassi, confirming the interest to Record (h/t Alex Young of Goal).
Bundesliga reporter Ross Dunbar was impressed with Lozano's contribution down the left flank:
Likewise, youngster Jesus Corona—who performed so admirably during the 2015 tournament in Chile—enjoyed a productive appearance before the Porto wide-man was replaced.
Despite Marquez’s advancing years and lacklustre performances during the 2015-16 Liga MX domestic season with Atlas, the former Barcelona defender possessed an air of calmness throughout the encounter. His leadership could prove to be the telling factor should Mexico progress past the group-stage format.
His composure at the decisive moment put his country on their way to victory before Uruguay were punished further at the death after pushing men forward in desperate search for an equalising goal.
Equally, in spite of his ever-reducing pace across the ground, the 37-year-old's mind remains as alert as ever, and this told with a cluster of important blocks and interceptions.

Mexico will be without another of their experienced stars for their second fixture of the tournament, after Andres Guardado was shown two yellow cards.
The 29-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger, who has won 127 caps for his country, will be forced to sit out the clash with Jamaica but will be available for the final group game against Venezuela on June 13.
Per Jon Arnold of Goal, coach Osorio felt his side deserved to win their opening game and said: "I think that over the 90 minutes we were superior against a great opponent and we're very happy with the result."
For the fourth Copa America match in succession, Jamaica were beaten 1-0. In their opening gambit in the tournament, it was Venezuela who ended the tie as the happier of the two sides as La Vinotinto finally concluded their torrid run of results. Per Soccerway, they had achieved just one win in their previous 15 matches in all competitions.
Josef Martinez struck a powerful effort under Jamaican goalkeeper Andre Blake after 15 minutes, and Venezuela managed to hold on for victory after late pressure from the Reggae Boyz.

Winfried Schafer's men entered the competition with a surprising 1-0 victory over holders Chile in Vina del Mar, Chile, but the Caribbean nation's goal drought continued when official competition got under way in Chicago.
Per the Sunday Gleaner (h/t Ryan Rosenblatt of Fox Sports), Jamaica were forced to start the match without Premier League-winning captain Wes Morgan due to the defender suffering from tiredness. However, the Leicester City player was forced into action after just 40 minutes after a red card for Rodolph Austin. The Brondby midfielder will sit out the contest with Mexico.
Defeat on Thursday would see their hopes of qualification for the next stage reduce drastically. Meanwhile, another three points for the two-time runners-up would ensure Mexico advance.
Morgan will have to produce a stunning individual performance to deny El Tri scoring, with Bayer Leverkusen attacker Javier Hernandez eager to open his account for the tournament after spurning a number of opportunities against Uruguay.
