Draymond Green Comments on Struggles in Game 4 Loss vs. Thunder

Mike ChiariMay 25, 2016

The Golden State Warriors sit one loss away from elimination, and All-Star forward Draymond Green took much of the blame for their Game 4 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals Tuesday.

According to Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN.com, Green was blunt in his self-criticism: "You have a free pass to blast me. You have a free pass. I was f--king awful."

Green made just one of seven attempts from the field, scoring six points and turning the ball over six times in the 118-94 defeat.

Despite Golden State's dire situation, Green still believes his team can battle back: "We'll be fine. ... We've put too much work in to go out like this. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing something and going out like this."

Per ESPN Stats & Info, the odds are now stacked against the Dubs based on NBA playoff history:

One more defeat will see Golden State ousted ahead of the NBA Finals, which would lessen the impact of their record-breaking 73-win season.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Green's poor play has been one of the biggest reasons for the Warriors going down 3-1 after the series was tied at 1-1:

Green was spectacular during the regular season, averaging 14 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game, and the Warriors need him to turn the corner in order to have a chance in the series.

The focus is usually on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson when it comes to the Dubs, but Green is a do-everything player who can impact the game in so many different ways.

A supporting piece in Andre Iguodala was the driving force behind Golden State's NBA Finals triumph last season, and every indication thus far in the Western Conference Finals is that the Warriors need Green to step up in a similar fashion this time around.
