Newcastle United vs. Tottenham: Team News, Livestream, TV Info, Ticket News

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur meet on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League season in a clash of sides whose major objectives are already beyond them.

Spurs failed in their bid to overhaul Leicester City and win the title while Rafa Benitez's side were relegated by Sunderland's win over Everton on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side is still chasing a cherished objective: finishing ahead of Arsenal for the first time since 1995.

A point would almost certainly be sufficient for Spurs to secure second place given their significant goal-difference advantage over the Gunners, but their hosts may be desperate to give their fans something to be positive about before a long summer of preparation for the Championship.

Failure to win at St. James' Park would see Spurs match their worst run of the season, going winless for four straight games. Newcastle are on their best run of the season, having gone five games without defeat.

Team News

Pochettino confirmed to reporters that Nabil Bentaleb is back in training, but the final game of the season comes too soon for the Algerian. Spurs have the same squad available as they had for the previous week's game against Southampton, with Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele still serving suspensions.

Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini remains sidelined with a calf injury.

Players to Watch

While Tottenham's recent results have been underwhelming, the re-emergence of summer signing Heung-Min Son has been cause for optimism.

The South Korea international was a star in the Bundesliga, but injury and competition for places has meant he's had a relatively modest debut season in the Premier League.

With Dembele and Alli suspended, Son has been restored to the starting lineup and scored twice in as many games.

There is no doubting his quality, but this late-season opportunity should put Son in good stead for the next campaign, and he'll be looking to sign off with another strong showing against Newcastle.

When Andros Townsend moved from his boyhood club to St. James' Park in the January transfer window, Spurs were very much still in the title race.

As the fans looked at the run-in, many were concerned about facing Townsend on the final day with the title potentially up for grabs.

That is no longer an issue, but the Tottenham academy product has looked one of Newcastle's better players in recent weeks and will assuredly be fired up for this match.

He'll be desperate to prove his former club wrong and simultaneously secure his place in the England squad for this summer's UEFA European Championship.

Key Battle

Tottenham have spent a good portion of the season as the leading scorers (they are second with 68 goals to Manchester City's 70) in the Premier League, yet they have failed to win the league title largely because of a lack of cutting edge.

In recent weeks, Southampton, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion all could have been dispatched with more efficient finishing after dominant midfield performances.

The same weakness cost Spurs in the reverse fixture, when Newcastle completed a classic smash-and-grab at White Hart Lane for the third consecutive season.

Although little has likely changed in the week since the frustrating home defeat to Southampton, Tottenham could blow Newcastle away if they are on form.

If not, relegated Newcastle could knock Spurs down to third.

Odds

Tottenham are unsurprisingly short favourites to win this match, at 3-4, per Odds Shark. Spurs have been the second-best away team in the division this season and would end up with more points won away than at home with a victory at Newcastle on the final day.

The hosts are 3-1 outsiders, long odds for any home team and particularly one with such a good record against Spurs.

While Tottenham are clearly the stronger side, Newcastle have the potential to spring an upset in their farewell to top-flight football for the time being and represent far more attractive odds.
