Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks: Live Score, Analysis for Game 5
Mike Scott scored 17 points off the bench, Kent Bazemore and Jeff Teague scored 16 points apiece and the Atlanta Hawks hammered the Boston Celtics, 110-83, at Philips Arena on Tuesday night to take a 3-2 lead in their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series.
The Hawks fell behind 29-19 at one point during the second quarter, but they then unleashed a shooting barrage that seemingly did not end.
Atlanta made 11 straight shots to surge to a 47-39 halftime lead, a run fueled by Scott and Bazemore.
The Celtics made a run in the third quarter, trimming what was then a double-digit deficit to five, but that was as close as they would get. The Hawks rained three-pointers the rest of the evening, going 14-of-36 from beyond the arc as a team.
Atlanta scored 42 points in the third period and 63 in the second half overall.
To put it lightly, Boston's offense struggled. Evan Turner led the C's with 15 points, while Isaiah Thomas scored just seven points off 3-of-12 shooting.
Thomas also turned his ankle in the fourth quarter, resulting in a mild ankle sprain. That could end up being a factor in Game 6 at TD Garden on Thursday.
The Celtics shot just 7-of-29 from long range. Boston also committed 20 turnovers.
