Judge Richard Berman had previously ruled that commissioner Roger Goodell overstepped his bounds in suspending Brady last year. The two-time MVP went on to play a full 16-game schedule in 2015 while the case was wrapped up in appeals.

Goodell suspended Brady after an independent investigation found it was "more probable than not" that the New England Patriots quarterback knew of a scheme to deflate game balls below NFL PSI regulations, according to the Washington's Post's Mark Maske. Brady will miss the first four regular-season games in 2016 if the ruling holds up.

Obviously, there are three big winners here: Goodell, the AFC East and Jimmy Garoppolo. Goodell has a court ruling that he did not overstep his power; it frees him to act as judge and jury in a number of future cases.

The AFC East may finally have a chance to unseat the Patriots from their perch atop the division. Even if teams around the league would be up in arms if it was their quarterback, champagne is probably popping in Miami, Buffalo and New York.

As for Garoppolo, he's finally off kneel-down duty. These four games will be an audition for the next step in his NFL career.
