Russell Westbrook Records 25 Points, 15 Assists in Consecutive Games
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook turned in another big outing in Saturday's 119-108 win over the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the first player since Isaiah Thomas in 1985 to record 25 or more points and 15 or more assists in consecutive playoff games, per NBA.com on Twitter.
With the Thunder owning a 2-1 series lead and hoping to take a 3-1 advantage back to Oklahoma City, the 27-year-old superstar point guard came up with his finest performance of the series, tallying 25 points, 15 assists, five rebounds and two steals, with no fouls and just two turnovers in 39 minutes.
He only made seven of his 19 field-goal attempts but converted three of his five three-point tries and made eight of his 12 free throws.
Though he had 26 points and 15 assists in a Game 3 blowout victory, Westbrook didn't have any rebounds in the contest and turned the ball over six times.
Saturday's clean performance turned out to be much-needed dose of help, as teammate Kevin Durant finished with just 19 points, marking the first time since Nov. 10 he's fallen shy of 20.
In addition to Westbrook's fine outing, center Enes Kanter helped to pick up the slack, converting 12 of his 13 field-goal attempts in a 28-point, six-rebound performance over 26 minutes off the bench.
The Mavericks now face a near-impossible task, needing to win three consecutive games against the Thunder, with two of those coming at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
