Nike pays homage to one of basketball's most important cities with Wednesday's much-anticipated release of the Air Jordan 10 Retro "NYC" sneakers.
A simple, classic look commands attention with the notable release, with black, grays and a splash of gold meshing to form the complete package.
Sneaker Bar Detroit provided a look at the release details:

It's hard not to fall in love with the look or theme.
The eye rips to the gold, though the black and splash of gradient grays shouldn't be ignored. OS Kicks looked at an appealing angle:
This shoe is the first in a four-part offering dubbed the Air Jordan 10 "City Pack," which will also feature sneakers honoring Chicago, Los Angeles and Charlotte. The first such set hit store shelves back in 1995 and honored Seattle, Sacramento, Orlando, New York and Charlotte.
New York has a hit on its hands this time, folks.
Kicks on Fire provided a look at the shoe in a complementary environment:
As did B/R Kicks:
The only thing prettier than the gradient texture of the bottom of the kick is the gold Jumpman.
Speaking of the all-important gold, Villa zoomed in close for the "NYC" portion of the offering:
Not that the gold ends there.
No, another gold Jumpman blesses the inside of the shoe from a top-down perspective, while the back angle shows a smooth gold angle on the pull tabs.
City Blue hit four angles showing off the designs:
From that back angle, one can also see a smooth Air Jordan logo patch on the back of the tongue, only helping to round out the entire package.
It doesn't take crazy colors and wild themes to honor a city well. Air Jordan going retro with three basic splashes of color does it well enough.
Though this sneaker is part of a pack, it's hard not to think of the "NYC" as a juggernaut on its own.
Sneakerheads can get their hands on the critical release starting Wednesday.
