Rangers vs. Penguins: Game 5 Live Score, Highlights for 2016 NHL Playoffs
The Pittsburgh Penguins have become the third team to reach the second round of the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs thanks to a 4-1 series win over the New York Rangers.
Rebounding from a slow start in Game 5, the Penguins took over with a four-goal second period on their way to a 6-3 win.
Facing elimination, the Rangers got off to a strong start. Rick Nash opened the scoring just 1:02 into the first period and New York dominated possession for the first half of the first period. The Penguins gradually came on and the frame ended in a 2-2 tie, with other goals from Carl Hagelin and Phil Kessel for Pittsburgh and a Dominic Moore tip for the Rangers.

In the second, though, the Penguins' young guns blew the game open. Bryan Rust scored twice and Conor Sheary added his second of the playoffs, but it was 39-year-old Matt Cullen who was credited with the game-winning goal—his second of the series.
With the Rangers trailing by four goals to start the third period, star netminder Henrik Lundqvist took a seat on the bench—pulled for the second straight game. The Rangers' comeback bid was limited to one power-play goal by Chris Kreider before the Penguins put the series to bed.
Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray is now 3-0 in the playoffs as a 21-year-old. The Penguins are through to the second round without a minute of game action from their starting goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, who continues to deal with concussion symptoms.
Up next, the Penguins will face the winner of the Washington Capitals-Philadelphia Flyers first-round series, which the Caps lead 3-2.
For the Rangers, a long summer of soul-searching lies ahead after the team failed to win a single playoff series for the first time in five seasons.
