Big Apple Team Has Eyes on Collison

On Saturday, sources told ESPN.com's Ian Begley that the New York Knicks are "fond" of the guard, which could lead them to propose a trade for the 28-year-old.
Backing up Rajon Rondo in Sacramento, Collison recorded 14.0 points and 4.3 assists in 30.0 minutes per game during the 2015-16 season.
He has solid court vision, something any kind of successful point guard needs, along with good handles to open up opportunities and stretch the offense.
Collison is also a legitimate threat from anywhere on the court to score, as he's not afraid to put the ball on the floor. He shot 48.6 percent from the field and 40.1 percent from three-point range as he garnered consideration for the Sixth Man of the Year award, which the Los Angeles Clippers' Jamal Crawford won.

New York is in dire of need of a legitimate point guard to run Phil Jackson's much-discussed triangle offense.
Langston Galloway and Jose Calderon, both of whom recorded 7.6 points and less than 4.3 assists per game, just weren't enough. The Knicks had the fourth-worst offense in the league with 98.4 points per game.
A point guard like Collison, who can facilitate and put the ball in the basket, would be a welcome addition to a New York offense that relies on Carmelo Anthony and the young phenom Kristaps Porzingis.
Per Spotrac, Collison is set to make $5.2 million in 2016-17, a figure that would allow the Knicks to scour the free-agent market and make a big signing if the opportunity came. For a Knicks team that is looking to find the right pieces of a competitive puzzle, Collison is a low-cost option who could add a much-needed spark at Madison Square Garden.
