Real Madrid travelled to Rayo Vallecano's Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Saturday knowing a win would take them top of La Liga, temporarily at least.

But it was the home side who took an early lead, when Bebe squared for Adri Embarba to score from close range after just seven minutes:

And things soon got worse for Zinedine Zidane's side soon after when Miku slammed the ball home after Real failed to deal with a corner kick:

Gareth Bale got Real back into the game on 35 minutes with an accurate header from Toni Kroos' corner:

Karim Benzema picked up an injury and was replaced by Lucas Vazquez, who levelled the scores on 52 minutes with a brilliant header from Danilo's right-wing cross:

Bale completed the comeback and clinched the three points for Real when he seized upon some sloppy Rayo defending to race clear and beat the goalkeeper with a low finish on 81 minutes:
