Rockets vs. Warriors: Game 1 Video Highlights and Recap from 2016 NBA Playoffs
The Golden State Warriors kicked off their quest for a second straight NBA title in grand fashion, defeating the Houston Rockets 104-78 in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series.
The Warriors are facing a world of pressure to win an NBA title after a historic 73-win regular season, so getting off to a good start in the postseason eases their burden.
Stephen Curry was fantastic, as usual, scoring 24 points and grabbing seven rebounds in just 20 minutes. He sat out the second half when Golden State had the game in hand.
The Rockets, who lost 11 of their last 12 games against the Warriors before this series, started to show some glimmers of being the team that went to the Western Conference Finals last season with three consecutive wins by at least 20 points to end this season.
Houston's offense was out of sorts against the Warriors defense, though. The Rockets shot just 35.7 percent in the game. James Harden did score 17 points but went 7-of-19 from the field and didn't attempt a free throw.
Dwight Howard did have a double-double in defeat, chipping in 14 points and 11 rebounds.
