La Liga Table 2016 Week 32: Standings, Title Odds and Final Scores After Sunday
Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid boosted their La Liga title odds after Week 32, thanks to a 3-1 away win over Espanyol on Saturday. Atleti's odds are now shortening after closing the gap on leaders Barcelona to just three points.
Barca's title bid wobbled when they lost 1-0 away to Real Sociedad, their second defeat in as many league matches. The odds of back-to-titles for last season's champions are now drifting.
Real Madrid's big win over Eibar earlier in the day provided more bleak news for Barca. It's put Los Blancos just four points adrift of their bitter enemy, something that's seen their title odds shorten.

Atletico Looking Strong for the Run-In
It was comprehensive stuff from Atletico when Fernando Torres, Antoine Griezmann and Koke all found the net against Betis. The latter pair continue to deliver excellent end product for Simeone's men in the final third, per ESPN's Dermot Corrigan:
Griezmann's goal put him among some elite company in Spain's top flight, according to Squawka:
The Griezmann and Koke combination proved doubly decisive because of Barcelona's defeat later in the day. It was a game marked by frustration for the club's attacking talisman Lionel Messi.
Barca's pint-sized No. 10 found himself blanked, despite a very busy day in front of the Sociedad goal. OptaJose summed up Messi's frustrations:
With just a three-point lead over Simeone's cagey side, it's no wonder Barca's odds have dropped to 1-8. Atleti know how to win a scrap, having secured the 2013/14 title on the final day at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona still have the edge, but there's little room for error left for manager Luis Enrique's squad.
Villarreal Ready for Europe's Premier Tournament
Overcoming two-time UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla and a very talented Celta squad in the race for fourth is a worthy achievement for Villarreal. It's also another reminder that manager Marcelino is one to watch.
The Spaniard has moulded an intelligent group of players into a team both defensively sound and deceptively pleasing on the eye going forward. That latter quality was on display for Denis Suarez's exquisite opener against Getafe.
His low shot followed a shrewd pass from forward Adrian Lopez. Congolese forward Cedric Bakambu added a second late on, prompting Sid Lowe of the Guardian to ask a pertinent question about the 24-year-old signed from Bursaspor last summer:
Villarreal's win rubbed salt into the wounds of a Sevilla team stung by Alvaro Negredo's injury-time winner at the Mestalla. It left Sevilla with an unwanted record on their travels, per OptaJose:
Not even another finely taken goal from the criminally underrated Kevin Gameiro could help Sevilla's cause. They now trail the Yellow Submarine by a mammoth 12 points.
Celta are eight behind Villarreal even after earning a commendable 1-0 away win at Sporting Gijon. Once again, powerhouse forward Nolito proved the match-winner.
But the goal wasn't enough to close the gap on Villarreal, even though manager Eduardo Berizzo's men now have a four-point lead over seventh-placed Sevilla.
Athletic Bilbao rose above Sevilla after Inaki Williams struck to beat Rayo Vallecano at San Mames.
Barcelona are left wishing they enjoyed a more solid advantage over Atleti and Real. Simeone's team just refuses to go away, and if Barca make any more mistakes, expect at least one of Spain's capital-city clubs to make them pay.
