Mavericks vs. Pistons: Score, Video Highlights and Recap from April 1
One day after the birth of his daughter, J.J. Barea scored a team-high 29 points as the Dallas Mavericks earned a crucial 98-89 road win over the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday.
Barea started in place of the injured Raymond Felton, who started the last nine games for Dallas before sitting out with a strained right groin. The new dad was one of four Mavericks to score in double figures, with Dirk Nowitzki and Wesley Matthews scoring 19 and 17 points respectively.
The Mavericks moved back to .500 on the year at 38-38 and guaranteed safety in the top 8 of the Western Conference for one night.
Detroit stars Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson combined to shoot 8-of-30 from the floor but were aided by a game-high 31 points from Marcus Morris. He made six three-pointers and grabbed 12 rebounds.
