With the emergence of youngsters at Manchester United, captain Wayne Rooney no longer has a guaranteed starting spot at Old Trafford.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and their positive performances have been welcome during United's chase for a top-four finish with Rooney sidelined through injury.

The Star relayed a rumour that Rooney will have to fight for his spot, captain or not, when he returns from injury, which the Mirror's David McDonnell recently reported could be in mid-April. The Star also reported that David Moyes is Aston Villa's top choice to take over at the club after the sacking of Remi Garde.
