Simmons explained in his apology he lost control due to remarks made about his deceased nephews, as captured by GridironNow's Alex McDaniel:

The Dispatch reported Monday that the Macon Police Department is filing disturbing the peace charges against Simmons and four others involved in the altercation.

Mississippi State spokesman Sid Salter said of the Simmons incident Monday, per Fowler, "We are aware of the situation. As more details become available, we will continue to evaluate the situation."

Per 247Sports, Simmons had 18.5 sacks as a senior for Noxubee County High School in Macon, Mississippi. The 18-year-old has taken accountability for his conduct, but his off-field misstep may cost him dearly as he prepares to start his college career.
