Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend
It's that time of the week again.
It was a round of football that saw the return of Real Madrid's front three, a historic moment for an Italian legend and Leicester City ever-so-slightly tighten their grip on the Premier League title.
The weekend's football treated us to some fine goals all over Europe (and as far south as Australia), and we've taken a look through the best of them to pick out the top 10 solo strikes, shots from distance and free-kicks from the past few days of football.
Sit back, relax and enjoy (unless, perhaps, you're a Newcastle United fan longing for the past).
10. Hatem Ben Arfa (Nice) vs. Ajaccio
1 of 10A matter of hours after Aleksandar Mitrovic had rescued a point for Newcastle United in their derby with Sunderland, one of their old employees was shining for Nice in Ligue 1.
OGC Nice strolled to a 3-0 win over Ajaccio on Sunday, and the pick of the bunch came from Hatem Ben Arfa, who skipped past two defenders before firing into the far corner.
Newcastle, meanwhile, remain stuck in the relegation places...
9. Thom Haye (AZ Alkmaar) vs. FC Twente
2 of 10AZ Alkmaar and FC Twente played out an incident-packed 2-2 draw on Sunday, and the pick of the goals came from Alkmaar's Thom Haye.
With the scores locked at 1-1 after 77 minutes, the 21-year-old launched an unstoppable shot into the top corner to put his side in front.
Unfortunately for Haye, it wouldn't be a winner, though, with Stefan Thesker equalising in stoppage time, meaning the points would be shared between the two sides, who each finished with 10 men.
8. Florian Thauvin (Marseille) vs. Rennes
3 of 10What was that we were saying about Newcastle players?
Florian Thauvin was loaned back to his former club, Marseille, in January and rubbed salt into the wounds of the Premier League strugglers with a fine goal against Rennes on Friday.
The 23-year-old took the ball on his left foot from the edge of the penalty area, curling a brilliant shot into the far corner.
However, it wasn't to be a memorable day for Marseille, with Rennes handing them a 5-2 defeat at home.
7. Dimitri Petratos (Brisbane Roar) vs. Melbourne City
4 of 10Melbourne City hosted Brisbane Roar in a crunch A-League fixture on Friday night, and it all looked to be going smoothly when Dimitri Petratos set them on their way with a wonder goal.
A Roar corner was half-cleared to Petratos on the edge of the area, who took a touch and slammed a brilliant volleyed finish past Thomas Sorensen in the Melbourne goal.
But Jack Hingert's red card saw the wheels fall off for Brisbane, who fell to a 3-1 defeat thanks to second-half goals by Aaron Mooy, Anthony Caceres and Nick Fitzgerald.
6. Josh Ginnelly (Altrincham) vs. Aldershot Town
5 of 10Altrincham moved outside the National League relegation places on Saturday with an emphatic 4-0 win over Aldershot Town, and they did it in style thanks to Josh Ginnelly.
The 18-year-old picked the ball up from well inside his own half before starting a 70-yard run that ended with a fine finish to put Altrincham 2-0 up early in the second half.
Non-league goal of the weekend, no doubt.
5. Mikkel Hedegaard (SonderjyskE) vs. Midtjylland
6 of 10Remember FC Midtjylland?
Not long ago, the Danish outfit were the darlings of Europe thanks to their 2-1 win over Manchester United, and now we're misspelling their name all over again thanks to their involvement in the goal of the weekend from Denmark.
With the scores level at 2-2 against SonderjyskE with 20 minutes to play, Midtjylland were on the receiving end of a brilliant Mikkel Hedegaard volley that settled the game.
The result moved SonderjyskE into second in the Superliga, while Midtjylland stayed put in fifth.
4. Jake Reeves (AFC Wimbledon) vs. York City
7 of 10"Anything Mikkel Hedegaard can do, you can do better" are not likely to be the words of inspiration written on Jake Reeves' mirror, but the AFC Wimbledon man produced a carbon copy of the Dane's goal during Saturday's 2-1 League Two win over York City.
The difference? Reeves' winner came in the 93rd minute to keep Wimbledon's slim promotion chances alive.
3. Manuel Lanzini (West Ham United) vs. Chelsea
8 of 10
West Ham's pursuit of the Premier League's top four looked to be making another major leap forward on Saturday, but the Hammers were twice pegged back by Cesc Fabregas.
Manuel Lanzini set Slaven Bilic's men on their way with a superb opener, but the Spaniard would twice equalise at the end of each half to salvage a 2-2 draw for the defending champions.
2. Steffen Rasmussen (AGF Aarhus) vs. AaB Aalborg
9 of 10Right back to the Danish Superliga we go for a perfect recipe for epic goals: goalkeepers scoring stoppage time equalisers.
Steffen Rasmussen rescued a point for AGF Aarhus against AaB Aalborg with a header in the fourth of six minutes' stoppage time.
It was a vital—and desperately dramatic—goal for both sides at two separate ends of the table.
1. Paul Pogba (Juventus) vs. Torino
10 of 10Who else but Pogba?
The Frenchman put Juventus in front in the first half of the Turin derby on Sunday with a beautiful curling free-kick from distance.
Pogba's effort would be overshadowed by the exploits of Gianluigi Buffon behind him, but his goal set the Serie A leaders on their way to a 4-1 victory, which keeps them top of the table for the international break.
