Barclays Premier League Table: 2016 EPL Roundup After Week 31 Saturday Results

The away teams ran rampant in the Premier League on Saturday as leaders Leicester City were one of four travelling outfits to record a win on opposition territory following their 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace.

Chelsea were the only home team who managed to scrape a result in the afternoon kick-offs, as they held West Ham United to a 2-2 draw in west London, where Cesc Fabregas netted a brace to pinch a point for the hosts.

Arsenal triumphed 2-0 at Everton in Saturday's early kick-off thanks to first-half goals from Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi, bouncing the Gunners back to winning form following their UEFA Champions League exit to Barcelona.

Stoke City and Norwich City also triumphed away from home, with wins at Watford and West Bromwich Albion respectively, and Swansea City were the only home side to triumph after they beat Aston Villa in the late game.

Leicester travelled to Selhurst Park on Saturday seeking their third successive Premier League victory, a feat they'd already managed on three occasions this season and one they knew would keep their title bid in good stead.

Manager Claudio Ranieri was therefore pleased to see the heroic tag team of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez functioning at its best, and the former fed the latter to fire in a neat opener just 10 minutes before half-time.

His run-in at the back-post further exemplified his fearless approach this season, per Sky Sports Statto:

With Tottenham Hotspur not due to host Bournemouth until Sunday afternoon, that early goal also gave the Foxes great hope of establishing a massive eight-point lead at the top of the table:

Leicester have lost their scoring stride of late, but a fourth 1-0 victory in five outings nevertheless led Ranieri's men to another three-point haul, extending their run of form at the Premier League perch.

West Ham couldn't follow their lead, however, as a late Fabregas penalty saw interim Chelsea chief Guus Hiddink retain his unbeaten Premier League record following a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Lanzini pushed Slaven Bilic's men into a 1-0 lead after 17 minutes with a sensational strike over the top of Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois, an effort that left Soccer Saturday analyst Charlie Nicholas almost speechless:

Fabregas equalised for the hosts in the last minute of the first half, but it looked as though Andy Carroll's 61st-minute goal on the back of a Dimitri Payet through ball had sealed the tie for West Ham:

That was until Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek was brought down in the area with two minutes of normal time remaining, and Fabregas stepped up to convert the 88th-minute spot-kick.

A win over Chelsea would have taken Bilic's side into the Premier League's top four, but the Hammers were forced to settle for a point, despite ESPN FC's Liam Twomey suggesting the visitors may have deserved all three: 

Earlier on Saturday, Arsenal recorded a valuable 2-0 victory at Goodison Park, where Welbeck and Iwobi were both on target for the Gunners, who claimed their first Premier League win since mid-February.

Defeat for the Toffees, meanwhile, meant Roberto Martinez's side suffered back-to-back league losses for just the second time this season and have now suffered eight defeats at Goodison Park.

Stoke City were similarly impressive as they handed Watford just their second home league defeat of 2016 on Saturday, winning 2-1 at Vicarage Road. The Potters have just seven games left to realise their dream of qualifying for Europe, but as Bet365 highlighted, it's far from out of their reach:

Giannelli Imbula was particularly prominent in creating Jonathan Walters' opener, and the Republic of Ireland international converted a superb Phil Bardsley cross after 18 minutes to fire Stoke in front.

Joselu compounded the Hornets' misery when goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes underhit a 51st-minute goal-kick only to see Stoke's Spanish forward react fastest and lob him from 25 yards out. That was before Watford's Troy Deeney notched a consolatory strike for the home outfit.

Norwich City sealed their first Premier League victory in 11 attempts after Robbie Brady's 50th-minute strike sealed a 1-0 win at West Brom, just their third away triumph of the 2015-16 campaign.

Swansea City bucked Saturday's trend by becoming the only home outfit to book a victory on Saturday, and the Welsh representatives now look safe from the drop after a very successful month so far:

Centre-back Federico Fernandez headed in the only goal at the Liberty Stadium after Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan was caught flapping in the wind when he rushed out to punch a free-kick.

Remi Garde's Villans are now 12 points shy of safety with only eight games remaining and need to make a swift return to winning ways if they're to hold any hope of retaining their Premier League status.
