Twitter Reacts: Man Utd Crash out of Europa League After 1-1 Draw with Liverpool
Good luck, Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman had a massive task in front of him if he were to navigate a passage to the last eight of the UEFA Europa League for Manchester United.
Standing in his way? Just United's fiercest rivals, Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds took a 2-0 lead with them to Old Trafford and were looking to keep alive their only remaining hopes of silverware this season.
It was a huge match between two enemies, one that didn't deserve (but, of course, still received) the half-and-half scarf treatment.
"There's actually people going about wearing a half and half United/Liverpool scarf
— Jordan (@JordaanBroown) March 17, 2016"
Van Gaal angered fans by starting a midfield of Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
It was the Belgian's inclusion that caused the most ire.
Though that wasn't the only head-scratching decision to come from team selection, with James Milner deployed as a wing-back because of Alberto Moreno's injury.
"Remember Milner playing right back for England in world cup warm up in 2014. He was taken to the cleaners. So I'm sure it'll be fine.
— Taffin (@CalvLyfeson) March 17, 2016"
David De Gea kept United in the tie with a fine save during the first half...
...before Anthony Martial put them right back in it with a goal from the penalty spot.
Just when it looked like United had a chance, Philippe Coutinho scored on the stroke of half-time to leave Van Gaal's men in need of three second-half goals.
"Can u please arrest @Phil_Coutinho ... Thank you @MerseyPolice
— Knighty (@LeonKnight_) March 17, 2016"
That looked a tall order for the home side...
"Manchester United need three goals now? pic.twitter.com/YXeSgprKMK

"And those who can't score one goal in whole match need to score three goals ☺

Van Gaal sent on Antonio Valencia as he looked to complete mission impossible, while Fellaini kept being Fellaini.
The Dutchman's attempts to change the game didn't go down well.
But even if he'd used all his substitutions on centre-forwards, it didn't look like anybody was getting past the Frenchman at the heart of Liverpool's back four.
Mamadou Sakho and his fellow defenders prevented Manchester United scoring a goal (let alone three) in the second half to ensure Liverpool's place in Friday's draw for the quarter-finals.
Anger at Van Gaal was, once more, reaching its peak.
"LVG's managed to humiliate MUFC in the BPL, UCL, UEL, Capitol One Cup & should seal the FA Cup against West Ham. quite the achievement tbf.
— Adam Joseph (@adamjoseph_27) March 17, 2016"
With the FA Cup still a possibility and their slim chances of reaching the Premier League's top four still alive, attention turns to Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.
Good luck, Louis.
