Bayern Munich vs. Juventus: 2016 Champions League Round-of-16 Score, Reaction
Bayern Munich progressed to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday as they beat Juventus 4-2 at the Allianz Arena, coming from two goals down to claim the thrilling tie 6-4 on aggregate in extra time.
Paul Pogba and Juan Cuadrado put Juve in the driving seat before half-time, but Robert Lewandowski and a dramatic injury-time equaliser from Thomas Muller forced extra time. A quick-fire double from substitutes Thiago Alcantara and Kingsley Coman—on loan from the Bianconeri—secured the win for the hosts in dramatic fashion.
In a reverse of the first leg, the Bianconeri were on top for much of the contest.

Juve began the match pressing energetically in the final third, with Pogba pushing up close to Alvaro Morata.
With Claudio Marchisio and Paulo Dybala out, the pressure was on Pogba to lead by example, and the Frenchman kicked off the match in style as he opened the scoring after just five minutes.

David Alaba attempted to control a long pass forward from Sami Khedira, only to let it slip past him. Stephan Lichtsteiner pounced on the loose ball and saw his effort deflect into the path of Pogba via the onrushing Manuel Neuer, allowing the 23-year-old to slide the ball through Bayern's defence into an empty net.
Bundesliga experts Stefan Bienkowski and Clark Whitney were unimpressed with both Alaba and Neuer for their part:
Franck Ribery volleyed high and wide as Bayern tried to find a way back into the match before Morata did the same at the other end, but the hosts were evidently rattled by the early setback, appearing uncharacteristically nervy, as noted by football writer Miguel Delaney:
Morata had the ball in the net after 22 minutes as he capitalised on another mistake to calmly chip Neuer, but fortunately for the home side, he was wrongly adjudged to be offside.
The Bianconeri deservedly doubled their lead five minutes later, though, when Morata picked up the ball in his own half following a Bayern error.
The Spaniard broke with pace and power as he beat four players in an astonishing run before laying off to Cuadrado on the edge of the Bavarians' area, and the winger kept his cool to beat Philipp Lahm before firing home, via BT Sport Football:
BeIN Sports' Matteo Bonetti sung both players' praises:
Juventus continued to dominate their opponents for the remainder of the half, pressing and harrying them all over the pitch without the ball and pushing forward with intent with it.
Gianluigi Buffon was called into action several minutes before the break to deny Muller from close range, but soon after, Cuadrado almost put the tie to bed when Pogba found him at the back post. However, Neuer was able to turn his close-range smash onto the post.
Morata had two good chances in quick succession 10 minutes into the second half, but he sent a tame shot straight at Neuer before seeing an effort deflected over the bar after working his way into the area well.
Bayern steadily began to exert more control as the half wore on, and with the Bianconeri pinned back in their own half, they earned a lifeline when Lewandowski headed home Douglas Costa's pinpoint cross, per FC Bayern English:
After the goal, Juve showed nerves for the first time in the contest as Costa continued to cause problems, and Lewandowski hit the bar from another of his crosses but was flagged offside.
The Bavarians pulled level in the 91st minute from another cross, this time Coman planting the ball on Muller's head.

Juve almost went ahead once again early in extra time, but Lichtsteiner's close-range effort was well-saved by Neuer.
That save proved vital as Bayern ultimately punished them in the 108th minute, Thiago slotting in after working some space in the area thanks a neat one-two with Muller.

The goal prompted Juve to push forward in response, and just two minutes later, Coman burst upfield in a lightning-fast counter-attack and cut onto his left foot before curling a beautiful shot past Buffon, via BT Sport Football:
Mario Mandzukic forced another excellent save from Neuer on the volley, and Stefano Sturaro hit the subsequent rebound over the bar as Juve desperately tried to claw their way back. But Bayern looked fitter at the end and held on for the memorable win.
Bayern showed great resilience to come back, and thanks to their undoubted quality they remain with an excellent chance of a lengthy run in the competition. However, after worrying spells in both legs against Juventus, they'll need to markedly improve if they face the likes of Barcelona in subsequent rounds.
Post-Match Reaction

According AFP's Ryland James, he was also asked about the prospect of facing the team he will take over this summer, Manchester City, in the next round or the final:
Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri praised his team's efforts, according to journalist Nick Ames:
Per Juventus' official Twitter feed, he added: "I can't take anything away from the boys tonight. We played well and it's a pity we're out. Now we must focus on winning the Scudetto and lifting the Coppa Italia. Nobody expected us to put in those two performances against Bayern. We exit the Champions League with our heads held high."
