Wolfsburg Fine Nicklas Bendtner £1,800 for Showing Up Late to Training

Nicklas Bendtner has had a very expensive snooze after showing up late to Wolfsburg training, the Telegraph reports.

The former Arsenal striker, who has fallen out of favour with Dieter Hecking's Bundesliga side, was fined £1,800 after sleeping in and showing up to training 45 minutes late.

The 28-year-old—whose previous indiscretions include wearing branded underpants, having the audacity to drive a Mercedes and labelling himself one of the world's premier strikers—told Bild: "I just slept in and didn't hear my alarm. It's my mistake."

But Hecking, who hasn't selected the Dane in any of the club's past six games, hasn't accepted his excuse.

"This is not tolerable, any wrongdoing is always going to attract consequences," he said.
