EPL Results: Saturday's Week 30 Scores, Updated 2016 Premier League Table, Odds

Tim DanielsMar 12, 2016

Manchester City's Premier League championship hopes took a significant hit Saturday as they could only muster a scoreless draw against relegation-threatened Norwich. The Sky Blues could now fall 12 points behind league-leading Leicester by Monday night.

Even though the Foxes have left a couple of openings for another club to make a charge over the past few months, nobody has been able to take advantage. Now the onus is on them to finish the campaign strong to give the Cinderella run a storybook ending.

Let's check out all of the important information following Saturday's matches, including results, an updated table and the title odds. That's followed by a recap of the action.

Saturday Recap

STOKE ON TRENT, ENGLAND - MARCH 12: Graziano Pelle of Southampton heads the ball to score his team's first goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Stoke City and Southampton at Britannia Stadium on March 12, 2016 in Stoke on Trent, England.

City were the better side for a vast majority of Saturday's match. They dominated possession and created more chances, but the Capital One Cup champions failed to find the necessary finishing touch. It allowed Norwich to pack it in defensively and see out the draw to earn a crucial point.

It's the type of result Manuel Pellegrini's group may have been able to accept earlier in the term. Alas, the margin for error is thin now, which makes the draw sting. It doesn't knock them out of contention, but it does make the journey to the top a lot more difficult.

The veteran manager isn't ready to concede the race quite yet, though. Jack Mumford of the club's official site passed along the boss' thoughts after the match:

"

Of course we dropped two important points. My mind is always focused now to the next game and while it is mathematically possible we must try to do it. The only way forward is to think of the Champions League game on Tuesday and after that we play against Manchester United at home.

We will try to get the three points and at the end of the season see which side has the most points but when you have so few games to play and you are losing points it is always difficult.

"

That's the right attitude to carry into the final stretch, but his players are going to need to show more fight in the attacking third to make a serious move up the table.

Meanwhile, every point is crucial for Norwich as they attempt to claw out of the bottom three. Ian Darke of BT Sports views the draw as a major building block after a lull:

Elsewhere, Southampton stayed within striking distance of a European berth for next season with a crucial away victory over Stoke. The Saints have been inconsistent throughout the term, as their recent skid highlighted, but the win showcased their upside.

Graziano Pelle scored both of the club's goals in the win. Getting him going for the final quarter of the campaign would be the attacking boost the side needs.

Squawka Football noted the Italian's scoring explosion:

Finally, Bournemouth have come to life at a perfect time to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Today's win marked their third straight, moving them 13 points clear of the bottom three. It's breathing room that certainly wasn't expected a couple of months ago.

Steve Cook played the role of hero with the game-winning goal with around 20 minute to go after Swansea had twice came back to tie the match. Those are the types of moments the Cherries were missing in the early stages of the campaign when they fell toward the bottom.

Natter Football praised the efforts of manager Eddie Howe:

Looking ahead, Tottenham have an opportunity to at least keep the heat on Leicester if they can do what City couldn't: Beat a possible relegation side away from home. Spurs must find a way to get all three points against what will likely be a desperate Aston Villa side on Sunday.

Then the Foxes take center stage Monday for a home clash with Newcastle. How they perform in what should be a fixture they handle relatively easily should showcase whether the pressure mounting on their shoulders is starting to make an impact.

Don't be surprised if there's a fair amount of drama left in the campaign despite the growing gap between Leicester and some of the other top contenders, including City.
