Arsenal Sponsors Puma Taunt Tottenham After Borussia Dortmund Defeat

Rory MarsdenMar 10, 2016

Arsenal's kit sponsor, Puma, stuck the boot in to Tottenham Hotspur after their UEFA Europa League hopes were left hanging by a thread following a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion on Thursday.

Mauricio Pochettino's side need a miracle in the home leg of their last-16 tie next week if they are to advance, and Puma, also sponsors of Dortmund, was quick to riff on Spurs' pain:

Pochettino made seven changes to his starting XI for Thursday's clash with the focus very clearly on the Premier League. Spurs' title hopes took a slight hit last Saturday when they dropped two points at home against Arsenal.

They now face an away trip to bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa on Sunday where a victory will put Spurs just two points behind league-leaders Leicester, who do not play until Monday against Newcastle United.

Bleacher Report's Dean Jones is convinced the Foxes will overcome the Magpies, but a Tottenham win against Villa will at least put a little added pressure on Claudio Ranieri's side:

Spurs were largely outplayed by Dortmund on Thursday and need to bounce back quickly.

The German side's goals came courtesy of a first-half Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang header and a second-half double from the excellent Marco Reus—the first of which can be seen below via BT Sport football:

An early goal from Spurs at White Hart Lane in Thursday's second leg could spark a comeback for the north London outfit, but Dortmund look firmly in the driving seat after 90 minutes of action.
