Player Viciously Kicks Referee Following Red Card, Ref Keeps His Cool Admirably

A referee in Italy showed ice-cool composure during an extraordinary incident in a lower-league clash between Castel San Niccolo and Fortis Arezzo in Tuscany.

The dramatic scenes began when Castel San Niccolo's number 11 was shown a straight red card. He then responded by waiting until the referee had started to walk away before launching a vicious kick at the unaware official.

The assailant's team-mates immediately rushed in to restrain their furious colleague, with one player forced to carry him away to prevent further trouble.

The referee, meanwhile, handled the whole incident admirably, calmly staring down his attacker before calling an end to the game and walking calmly from the pitch.

Shocking stuff.
