Jamie Carragher Leaves Steven Gerrard out of His All-Time Man Utd-Liverpool XI
As is customary before a big game in England, pundits have been hard at work selecting combined XIs of the two teams in question.
Thursday night's Europa League meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United is no different, with Jamie Carragher selecting his pick of the bunch in a 4-4-2 formation for the Daily Mail.
And the biggest omission from his lineup is Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, with whom he played for 15 years between 1998 and 2013.

Opting instead for Bobby Charlton and Graeme Souness in central midfield, Carragher admitted that it was a tough decision to make.
"Bobby Charlton is the greatest English player of all time and takes the attacking midfield role, with Graeme Souness the more defensive one because of his passing as well as his aggression," he said. "And that means two of my favourite players—Roy Keane and even my old mate Steven Gerrard—miss out."
Unsurprisingly there are six Liverpool players in the team to United's five, and Carragher said he just "couldn't" bring himself to name former Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville in the team.
Joining Charlton from the Red Devils are Cristiano Ronaldo, Denis Irwin, Peter Schmeichel and George Best, while Phil Neal, Mark Lawrenson, Alan Hansen, Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush are his other selections from the Merseyside team.
All in all, not a bad lineup...
