Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Record for Champions League Knockout Appearances

Cristiano Ronaldo broke another record on Tuesday when he overtook Xavi for appearances in knockout games of the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid's last-16 second-leg tie with Roma was Ronaldo's 57th knockout appearance, taking him past Xavi's previous record of 56.

Of those appearances, 34 came with Real and 23 from his time with Manchester United.

Ronaldo has won the competition twice, with United in 2008 and Los Blancos in 2014.
