Champions League 2016: Live Stream, Odds for Tuesday's Round-of-16 Fixtures

Tom SunderlandMar 7, 2016

Real Madrid and Wolfsburg return to their European commitments on Tuesday, and both teams are looking to advance from the Champions League round of 16 following first-leg wins over Roma and Gent, respectively.

Both sides feature at home in the reverse fixtures this week, with Real having soared to a 2-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, while Wolfsburg survived a late comeback to triumph 3-2 in Belgium last time.

Roma and Gent still have a lot to fight for, though, and another European extravaganza brings with it a further opportunity to make the best of the odds on offer.

First Goalscorer: Gareth Bale (9-2)

Gareth Bale made a triumphant return to fitness in Saturday's 7-1 thrashing of Celta Vigo, where he needed just 16 minutes to score after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The BBC lineup won't be complete against Roma on Tuesday with Karim Benzema still missing from action, but Bale has commented on the confidence his return has helped build, per Real Madrid TV (h/t Sport):

"

It's been a frustrating time in the last five or six weeks so it's great to be back on the pitch and to get a goal, but the most important thing is we got the three points to build confidence ahead of Tuesday.

I think the most important thing was to build confidence. I think it was a great performance and we can take that into Tuesday.

I think it's great to get the victory and obviously it's great for me to be back playing and get some minutes on the pitch.

"

Manager Zinedine Zidane is likely to hand his winger a starting berth against the Giallorossi, increasing Bale's chances of finding the back of the net first against a Roma team that leaked two at home to Los Blancos.

Cristiano Ronaldo may have added four against Celta, but the official Real Madrid Twitter account highlighted the fact that Bale is a man in red-hot form for Real of late, too:

With Benzema missing, it's possible we'll see Bale shift into a more central role and look to provide the goal threat his French team-mate otherwise would have, making his first goalscorer odds of 9-2 seem all the more generous.

Real are evidently in scoring mood following Saturday's result, and their improvements don't bode well for a Roma team that conceded six at the Camp Nou during the Champions League group stage.

Wolfsburg to Win 3-2 (25-1)

Gent will need to summon a huge effort if they're to turn their qualification hopes around in Wolfsburg on Tuesday. However, after registering two goals in the last 10 minutes of the reverse leg they have an outside chance.

That 3-2 defeat showcased some startling Wolfsburg inadequacies, with complacency being chief among them, and manager Dieter Hecking is aware his team is far from through:

A repeat score in Germany is currently priced at 25-1, and while it may seem unlikely Gent will be able to prove a threat worthy of two goals, it's worth noting the Wolves have kept just four clean sheets in 13 home league games this season.

Hecking also has defensive concerns considering defenders Naldo and Sebastian Jung will miss the tie while Koen Casteels is likely to deputise in goal for No. 1 Diego Benaglio, who is nursing a bruised rib. At the other end of the pitch, however, their attack is thriving, and an Andre Schurrle hat-trick recently led the team to a 4-0 drubbing of Hannover, as shown by BT Sport:

All signs point to a high-scoring affair at the Volkswagen Arena, and while Wolfsburg are likely to be the team to advance, Gent are sure to give the hosts a run for their money at the back.

Oddschecker also have Julian Draxler priced as an enticing 5-1 shot to score first, having scored four of his nine goals this season in his last five outings.
