EPL Predictions: Picks, Top Players for Week 30 Premier League Fixtures

Rory MarsdenMar 7, 2016

Leicester City will look to continue their remarkable march toward the Premier League title in Week 30 by getting a home win over struggling Newcastle United.

In a truncated weekend of action—a number of sides are competing in the FA Cup—Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will both have opportunities to gain ground on Leicester before the Foxes play on March 14.

Arsenal could also be in action against West Bromwich Albion if they fail to get past Hull City in their FA Cup fifth-round replay on Tuesday.

Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini's City side ended a three-game losing streak in the Premier League on Saturday, thrashing Aston Villa 4-0 at home.

Aguero was the key man, netting twice in 10 minutes in the second half, and although he did miss a penalty, it was an excellent performance from the Argentinian.

He is arguably City's best player, and his continued good form will be vital if the Manchester club is to make up the 10-point gap to Leicester required for them to win the league.

Up against Norwich City on Saturday, the Sky Blues will be heavy favourites to win at Carrow Road, as the Canaries are in the relegation zone.

However, City's away form in the league has been shocking in the main this season—they have won just two of their last 10 on the road—and Aguero's efficiency in front of goal will be vital to securing all three points against Norwich.

He has netted 16 times in 21 league appearances this season,  per WhoScored.com, a fantastic return that should have Norwich's defenders quaking in their boots.

Alex Neil's side has not won a game since early January, a stretch of nine league matches in which the team has picked up just a single point.

If Aguero is in form and firing for Saturday's match, then Norwich have little chance of getting anything from the clash, and Pellegrini's side should be able to make gains on Leicester before they play Newcastle.

Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham also have a trip to a struggling side to negotiate in Week 30, as they travel to face bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa.

In the same way Aguero could be the key for City against Norwich, Kane will be the main man for Spurs against Villa as they look to maintain their title challenge.

The Englishman scored a brilliant goal on Saturday against Arsenal, per BBC Sport's Phil McNulty:

But Spurs will be kicking themselves they could not hold onto their 2-1 lead despite the Gunners only having 10 men.

A point, paired with Leicester's victory, meant Tottenham dropped five points back from the Foxes, but Kane's performance was a good sign going into the latter stages of the season.

He has a habit of scoring vital goals, and his movement and intensity should be too much for Villa to handle on Sunday.

The Birmingham outfit has the worst defensive record in the league this season, and Kane will be eager to take advantage of the Villans vulnerabilities at Villa Park.

Bleacher Report's Dean Jones believes Spurs have a decent chance of catching Leicester:

But they will need an in-form Kane to see them through the crucial moments, and he can build on his excellent performance against Arsenal when he goes up against a poor Villa side.
