Twitter Reacts as Leicester City Go 5 Points Clear with Win over Watford

Tom WebbMar 5, 2016

Leicester City moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday.

Rewind two hours and the Foxes arrived at Vicarage Road looking to capitalise on Tottenham Hotspur's draw with Arsenal earlier in the day:

"

Prediction: Leicester to win, go five points clear, rip hole in space-time continuum, discover new element between beryllium and boron

There was mixed team news ahead of the clash between two sides who have surpassed all expectations this season:

"

At Vicarage Road, where it's hard not to feel excited about the opportunity Leicester have. Kante, surprisingly, is back. Big test today tho

"

Shame for Watford to lose main man Miguel Britos. The FA should try to find him a UK passport before Euro 2016 if Uruguay don't want him.

The first half was a forgettable affair:

"

It was so much less nerve-wracking watching Leicester when they were crap.

— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 5, 2016"

But it sparked into life in the second half when Riyad Mahrez put Leicester ahead with a beautiful goal:

"

Brilliant finish from Mahrez. Good touch to set it up, great shot. Footballer of the Year? #lcfc

The star winger then picked up a worrying-looking injury as the Foxes fought to hold on to their lead:

But hold on they did, to move five points clear of Tottenham and one step closer to a barely believable title win:

"

Go on the Foxes...👍🏻

— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) March 5, 2016"
"

Absolutely nerveless management of that situation from Leicester. Starting to feel as if we really might see something special.
