Former Arsenal Striker Gervinho Scores Winner in Chinese Super League Debut

Interest in the Chinese Super League, the new season of which kicked off on Friday, has perhaps never been so high in Europe's footballing strongholds.

With the likes of Alex Teixeira, Ramires and Ezequiel Lavezzi making the move to China in recent months, all eyes are on how they perform in their new surroundings.

Former Arsenal and Roma striker Gervinho is another who joined the exodus, and he played in the CSL season opener for Hebei China Fortune against Guangzhou R&F.

The Ivorian's 40th-minute goal turned out to be the winner as Hebei, for whom Stephane Mbia and Lavezzi are also plying their trade, ran out 2-1 winners.
