La Liga Table 2016 Week 27: Updated Standings, Title Odds After Tuesday Results
Atletico Madrid cruised to a routine 3-0 win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday at the Vicente Calderon, boosting their La Liga title odds as Week 27 commenced.
Diego Reyes handed Atletico the lead on a platter with an own goal before Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann completed the scoring in the second half. Once again, La Real looked phenomenal on the defensive side of the ball, and for the first time in weeks, the attack followed suit.
Elsewhere, Las Palmas crushed Getafe 4-0.

Recap
As shared by Atletico's official Twitter account, Yannick Ferreira Carrasco couldn't return to health in time for this match, putting pressure on Argentinian youngster Luciano Dario Vietto to bridge the gap between the midfielders and the attack:
"OUR STARTING ELEVEN! This is how we will play against @RealSociedad Let’s go, team! #AtletiRealSociedad #GoAtletihttps://t.co/DDfmtItwDe
— Atleti English (@atletienglish) March 1, 2016"
Atletico have struggled in front of goal since the loss of the Belgium international, but the hosts made a quick start against an in-form Real Sociedad squad. Niguez fired the first shot on goal, putting Geronimo Rulli to work early.
Jonathas managed to get himself booked in the opening minutes ,and the Basques continued to shoot themselves in the foot, as Reyes gave Atletico the lead after just eight minutes with an own goal.
The Mexican tried to make a clearance that landed in his own net, and per ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan, he didn't have to attempt the clearance in the first place:
Sociedad improved after the early setbacks but barely troubled goalkeeper Jan Oblak, as Atletico were in full control throughout the first half. Griezmann could have doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark, but he fired his shot straight at Rulli.
Vietto also had a good chance, but once again, Rulli kept La Real in the match. At half-time, Corrigan noted Sociedad were lucky to be down by a single goal:
Niguez made it 2-0 almost immediately after half-time, however, and Griezmann finally got his goal after the break, converting a penalty he won himself after 61 minutes.
Manager Diego Simeone immediately made a handful of changes, as Atletico saw out the match in impressive fashion, rarely allowing the Basques a look on goal in the second half.

In Tuesday's other match, Las Palmas continued their resurgence with a 4-0 win over Getafe. Tana bagged a brace, while Willian Jose and Jonathan Viera also found the back of the net. Getafe finished the match with 10 players, as Alvaro Pereira ran into a second yellow card after half-time.
After spending much of the season in the cellar of the standings, Las Palmas suddenly find themselves outside of the relegation zone following back-to-back wins. While there's plenty of football left to be played, Las Palmas look on course to save their season.
Barcelona remain the clear favourites to win the 2015-15 title, and oddsmakers have backed the Blaugrana for weeks now. They'll travel to Madrid to take on Rayo Vallecano on Thursday and shouldn't be in the least troubled by the struggling side.
Despite Barca's healthy lead, manager Luis Enrique has no intention of resting on his laurels, per ESPN FC's Corrigan:
"We have Atletico relatively close -- eight points plus goal average. But it is not about believing what others say. We have aimed to retain the title since the first week, we are now at week 26, with another game midweek [on Thursday at Rayo Vallecano].
We are in an unimprovable position as we head towards the decisive part of the season.
"
With such a mindset, Barcelona seem unlikely to implode anytime soon, which is bad news for Atletico.
Real Madrid will visit Levante on Wednesday, hoping to bounce back after their disappointing loss against Atletico last week.
