Ranking Barcelona's Top 5 Players for February 2016
February brought seven wins, a draw and 25 goals for Barcelona, who have taken control of La Liga, look well-set for a place in the last eight of the Champions League and have secured a place in the final of the Copa del Rey.
The Catalan club have had several standout displays throughout the month, but who have been their top five players?
Let's get ranking.
5. Gerard Pique
1 of 5
He even chipped in with the winning goal in Barcelona's victory over Sevilla at the end of the month, and Gerard Pique was regularly at his consistent best to help his side throughout February.
Although his discipline can be a concern—he picked up four yellow cards last month alone to take his tally to 12 (and one red) for the season—Pique remains a fearsome and fearless defender, one who can often prove a nightmare for opposition forwards to come up against.
4. Sergio Busquets
2 of 5
Tactically and technically superb in Barca's 2-0 Champions League last-16 first leg victory over Arsenal, for which he was lauded by the Guardian's Barney Ronay, Sergio Busquets' almost effortless midfield brilliance wasn't in short supply in February.
A player whose best work is so often unseen and unheralded, Busquets has become vital for the way that Barca play, almost acting as the roadie who puts the band's instruments out on the stage before they play them.
Without him, the song doesn't quite sound the same.
3. Neymar
3 of 5
After scoring in five consecutive games in January, Neymar was to net just twice in his seven February appearances, but that doesn't mean that he wasn't very good.
The Brazilian was largely leaving the scoring to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, but he was still floating menacingly around the pitch and causing havoc in his own unique way—most notably in the 6-1 victory over Athletic Club Bilbao in which he was absolutely fantastic.
One of the very best players in the game at doing what he does, his performances outlined his skills as a vital team player for Barcelona, and as someone the club would hate to have to do without.
2. Lionel Messi
4 of 5
Nine goals in the month made February the most successful period of the campaign so far for Lionel Messi, who hit crucial strikes in three different competitions as Barcelona's quest for back-to-back trebles continued at pace.
He's now scored 30 goals for the season, and Messi continues to go from strength to strength and deliver match-winning performances such as his two-goal display in the Champions League at Arsenal.
With the crucial months of the season now ahead, he could soon prove that February was just a warm-up.
1. Luis Suarez
5 of 5
With 10 goals in the month and a string of fantastic performances, Luis Suarez takes the accolade of Barca's top performer in February.
The Uruguayan scored two hat-tricks in the month, one in the 7-0 Copa del Rey hammering of Valencia and one in the 6-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, as his reputation as surely the best out-and-out forward in world football right now continues to grow.
The former Liverpool man has 41 goals in 39 appearances this season as he looks set to post the kind of scoring record that only Messi has proved capable of at Barca in recent years.
He simply looks unstoppable.
