Providence's Kris Dunn and Maryland's Melo Trimble are the front-runners at this point.

Dunn, a junior, is averaging 17.4 points, 6.9 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game while leading Providence to an 18-4 record this season. Trimble, a sophomore, is averaging 14.5 points, 5.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game while leading the Terrapins to a 19-3 mark.

Dunn may be tough to compete against for this award, however. He's the only player in the country to post a game with at least 15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals, according to ESPN Stats & Info, and he's done it twice.

He also reached 1,000 points for his career in January. FS1 on Twitter shared that moment:

Trimble, meanwhile, received high praise from defending NBA champion and MVP Steph Curry.

“He’s so composed when he’s out there on the floor, but he’s aggressive and he’s not afraid of the moment, he’s not afraid to make big plays,” the Golden State Warriors superstar said on Sunday’s episode of the Big Ten Network’s The Journey, per Scott Allen of the Washington Post. "Very similar to how I was back in college.”

Kentucky's Tyler Ulis and SMU's Nic Moore will also make a strong case. Ulis, a sophomore, is averaging 16.1 points, 6.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while Moore, a senior, has posted 15.7 points and 4.9 assists per contest.
