FA Cup Draw 2015-16 Schedule: 5th-Round Fixtures and Dates Released

Christopher SimpsonJan 31, 2016

Manchester City will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the pick of the fixtures for the 2016 FA Cup's fifth round, the draw for which was made on Sunday, while Shrewsbury Town will host Manchester United.

Per BBC Sport, Reading will host either West Bromwich Albion or Peterborough United, Watford will host Championship side Leeds United and Blackburn will host the winner of Liverpool and West Ham United:

Arsenal face Hull City for the third season running, and there are two more all-Premier League ties, with Crystal Palace travelling to Tottenham Hotspur and Everton doing the same to face Bournemouth.

The fixtures will be played from February 19 to February 22.

Both City and Chelsea progressed through the fourth round with consummate ease.

The former heaped further misery on Aston Villa as they swept aside the Midlands outfit, 4-0, with youngster Kelechi Iheanacho continuing his impressive season with the first hat-trick of his career.

Meanwhile, the latter dismissed MK Dons, 5-1, and as Squawka Football noted, their win not only saw Oscar net a hat-trick of his own, but Eden Hazard finally found the back of the net to end his goal drought:

With Chelsea steadily improving under interim manager Guus Hiddink—under whom they remain unbeaten—the two should produce an excellent encounter. Per OptaJoe, the Sky Blues have reason to be confident ahead of the clash:

However, with the game taking place at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will equally fancy their chances of progressing.

Their draw is excellent news for the likes of United, Arsenal and Liverpool, as one of the biggest teams left in the competition will, of course, be knocked out.

United will travel to New Meadow to take on the Shrews competitively for the first time in history, per OptaJoe:

Football writer Liam Canning welcomed the tie while Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News noted the favourable run of cup draws they've had under manager Louis van Gaal.

After passing the test of facing Championship side Derby County with a 3-1 win at Pride Park, the Red Devils will be confident of overcoming the League One side.

However, it's difficult to firmly back the inconsistent and uninspiring United this season, particularly away from home where Shrewsbury will look to make things difficult against their illustrious visitors.

There was a sense of deja vu among players on both sides when the Gunners drew Hull at the Emirates, with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey and the Tigers' Curtis Davies reacting on Twitter:

Arsenal won both previous encounters—the first in the 2014 final—and being at home will very likely make it three successive victories, though with the Tigers flying high in the Championship they should be full of confidence themselves.

Mid-table Leeds haven't been doing quite so well in the league and an away tie is far from ideal, but against a Watford side whose form has largely dropped off there could be scope for an upset at Vicarage Road.
