Cristiano Ronaldo Takes Nearly Twice as Many Shots as Any Other Liga Player

Some might see it as selfishness; others might see it as an indication he is the best player on the planet.

But the figures are there and show Cristiano Ronaldo has taken the most shots on goal in La Liga this season—by a long way.

The shooting stats, published by Sport, show the Portuguese's record of 135 shots comfortably eclipses that of rival Lionel Messi, who is second having taken 76—though the Argentinian did miss eight weeks of action between September and November.

Forty per cent of the Real Madrid superstar's 6.43 shots per game have been on target, and he scores with 11.8 per cent of them.

That's a strike rate under half that of Luis Suarez's, the Uruguayan scoring with around a quarter of his shots on goal and boasting an accuracy of over 50 per cent.

Barcelona's legendary front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar occupy the following three spots in the top five, followed by Athletic Bilbao's Aritz Aduriz.
