Colin Cowherd Dismisses Middle Tennessee State, School's AD Responds
Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports has never been one to hold back his thoughts on a subject, so when he has something on his mind, he's going to say it.
Cowherd made it clear on The Herd on Wednesday that he has switched his stance on whether college-level student-athletes should be paid, now saying he believes they should be compensated.
Of course, not everyone is a fan of his strong opinions.
When one listener called in and argued that paying student-athletes could have severe ramifications for programs like Middle Tennessee State, the outspoken host wasn't having any of that.
"Screw Middle Tennessee State. Screw 'em. We don't need 'em," he said. And off he went.
That rant caught the attention of Middle Tennessee State athletic director Chris Massaro:
Cowherd did acknowledge Massaro's tweet on his show but did not soften his stance. An Eastern Washington University alum himself, Cowherd is more focused on the issues surrounding big-time programs than he is about smaller schools getting paychecks for playing blue bloods in tuneup games.
It's safe to say Cowherd irked those who are affiliated with "small" programs, especially those at Middle Tennessee State.
